Thousands of people in Alabama have Hepatitis C (HCV), but many do not know they are positive. The Center for Disease Control recommends adults born between 1945–1965 receive one-time testing for HCV. Hepatitis C is a virus that is transmitted through the blood. People can be infected with the virus for years before they have symptoms, but HCV can cause serious damage to your liver.
